Paris and Tyson Fury have been met with backlash after sharing their support for President Donald Trump.
The couple were seen attending the White House UFC Freedom 250 event on Sunday night in celebration of the President’s 80th birthday, with the likes of Mark Zuckerberg and Joe Rogan among the 4,000 guests in the custom-built venue.
But the British heavyweight champion, 37, and Paris, 36, have been met with anger from fans, both for attending the event and for Tyson’s bold political fashion statement with his hat which was emblazoned with the words ‘Donald Trump for Prime Minister’.
Paris also shared plenty of photos from the event, writing: ‘Only in America! Can’t believe we are at the White House walking round, then watching the fights in Donald Trumps garden! Whirl wind few days!’
Tyson later shared a selfie as he proudly pointed at his hat, tagging Trump in his caption and adding the hashtag ‘#makebritaingreatagain.’
The family were accused of ‘losing their values’ by being in attendance at the event, with charlie_todi writing on Instagram: ‘I love you guys, but I can’t do this. Don’t lose your Fury values.’
Ketaeolivia added: ‘This is nothing to brag about tbf.’
Others accused the pair of going against their community, with thecherryblossompossum penning: ‘Ahhh, considering how the US government have treated Romani people forever, this is a bit of a kick in the teeth to the ancestry but go on.’
Before his night at the White House event, Tyson had not been in the US since October 2021 due to a travel ban.
Speaking after he walked out he said: ‘It’s been a long time and boy oh boy am I happy to be here at this historic event, freedom at the White House and Donald Trump’s birthday.’
He also said in a video: ‘Tyson Fury here, the Gypsy King. Just stepped foot on US soil.
‘It’s been five and a half years since I knocked out that big bum dosser Deontay Wilder – and I’m back! The smell of freedom is in the air.
‘Big shout out to Turki Alalshikh for making this happen. Get up! God bless you all, come on!’
The national anthem was then played as a formation of fighter jets streaked overhead, sparking a cheer from the crowd and chants of ‘USA, USA’.
It’s not the first time Tyson has crossed over into the political world, after he revealed his ambitions to be the next MP for Morecambe and Lunesdale in 2015.
He told the BBC he planned to stand as an Independent.
Tyson said there was ‘too much focus on immigration’ and not enough on ‘our own brothers and sisters who are on the streets and abusing drugs and alcohol.’
‘I want to make a change for the better for the place I live,’ he said. ‘I believe that I will succeed because of the influence I have over the people from the town.’
