Patsy Kensit has recalled an intimate experience between herself and pop icon David Bowie when she was 16 that left her ‘completely in awe.’

The EastEnders icon, 56, and the music legend, who died aged 69 in 2016, starred together in the 1986 film Absolute Beginners.

Directed by Julien Temple, it tells the story of young photographer Colin (Eddie O’Connell) who falls in love with model Suzette (Kensit). Bowie starred as Vendice Partners, an advertising mogul who takes Colin under his wing.

During their time on set, Kensit recalled a moment between the pair which she dubbed ‘the most erotic experience’ of her life.

‘Bowie was just gorgeous. Heaven. I was 16 and I think he was 30 [he was 39]. He was so lovely to everybody and I was completely in awe,’ she told The Sunday Times.

‘I was also deluded, imagining that he’d fall in love with me and we’d run off. And of course [when we met] I was in a line-up of people where he just shook my hand and then went along the line, and I was crushed.’

However, she described a close moment they shared in her dressing room which made her swoon.

‘But then one day I was sitting in make-up and he popped his head in the door and said hi. He came over, picked up a brush and just started brushing my hair. He didn’t say anything — he just brushed it, then walked away.

‘It was the most erotic experience of my life,’ she added.

The legendary singer died of cancer in 2016, with Kensit reflecting on her heartbreak over his death in The Times’ Weekend magazine.

‘When he passed, it really affected me. But wonderful to have been in a room with him, to have breathed the same air,’ she said.

The actress famously went on to marry Oasis icon Liam Gallagher, sharing son Lennon before they split in 2000. It came after her divorces from both Jim Kerr and Dan Donovan, and she went on to tie the knot with Jeremy Healy briefly from 2009 to 2010.

It comes after the soap star has teased a return to EastEnders and her role as Lola Pearce’s estranged mum Emma Harding.

Reflecting on the role, Patsy told The Sun: ‘The script writing is so good, I loved the character and I was working with Danielle [Harold] who was incredible.

‘With a programme like EastEnders, you really do have to surrender your life to it, but if the call came tomorrow, I’d bite their hand off because I had such an amazing time.’

At first, Lola wanted nothing to do with her onscreen mother Emma, but after explaining why she abandoned her as a child, she decided to let her mum back in.

But as the reality of Lola’s terminal prognosis set in, she started to pull away, before claiming that she needed to move away as part of her work.
