Football icon Paul Gascoigne’s son has begged for help after his partner was diagnosed with an incurable brain tumour.
Mason, 37, is attempting to raise £320,516 for Jaimee, 28, to take part in an experimental treatment for the ‘aggressive’ form of cancer.
Jaimee shared that she was desperate to ‘fight for more time’ with her and Mason’s son Teddy, who is just five years old.
On the GoFundMe page, she wrote: ‘My whole life changed when I was diagnosed with an aggressive and incurable form of brain cancer (IDH1-Mutant, CNS WHO grade 4 Astrocytoma).
‘I’ve undergone major brain surgery to remove as much of the tumour as possible, and now going through Radiotherapy and Chemotherapy treatment.
‘Unfortunately, with this type of cancer, even after the standard treatment the tumour will progress and no one can predict how quickly. The median survival rate is about five years.’
She added: ‘More than anything, I desperately want more time with my little boy. Being Teddy’s mummy is my whole reason for existence. And I’m not ready to say goodbye.’
There is a ‘glimmer of hope’ for the mum though as she has the chance to participate in a clinical trial at a hospital in Ohio.
It’s for a new drug that is designed to target a tumour like hers – but the treatment has a hefty price tag of over £320k to give ‘a realistic chance of completing this trial’.
The funds need to be raised within the next four weeks and even if the trial is successful, Jaimee has ‘accepted’ that she will not be cured.
‘There is an opportunity for more time – and I need that,’ she continued. ‘I need to watch my son’s smiles and laughter on more Christmas mornings.
‘To be there for more birthdays, and to watch him become the young man I’ve always imagined. I’m not asking one person to make this possible. I’m asking as many people as possible to help in whatever way they can.’
So far, the fundraiser is just shy of 50% towards their goal, sitting at a not insignificant £148,458 total.
Mason also shared the fundraiser on his own Instagram, pleading with followers to spread it as far as possible.
‘We’re trying to achieve this goal so we can have the time we deserve with her and she has time she deserves with her five-year-old boy so please like, share and donate as much as you can,’ he penned.
The devastated dad added: ‘I know times are hard but we appreciate it, even if it’s a pound. I just wanna say thank you to everyone.’
Mason is the son of Sheryl Gascoigne and her first husband, Colin Kyle, and was adopted by Paul – also known as Gazza – along with his sister, Bianca.
Sheryl and Paul welcomed a son, Regan, in 1996 and wed five months later before splitting in 1998.
