It’s no secret that the British royals have had a complicated relationship with the paparazzi over the years. While they need the photographers to highlight their work and engagements they attend, they’d rather not be bothered at all when they’re off duty and would like to avoid the cameras.

Now, one photographer is revealing which members of the family have been the most difficult to capture.

Which royals are the toughest to capture and have played games ‘mocking’ the paps?

Professional photographer and host of Paparazzi Podcast Mark Karloff has snapped pics of countless celebrities throughout his career, getting shots of everyone from Mike Tyson to Jim Carrey to Julia Roberts to Olivia Wilde. He also worked as Heidi and Spencer Pratt’s personal photographer for a few years.

He explained that Harry and Meghan were so difficult to get shots of when they first moved to America because they were playing games and only allowed their hired photographers to get snaps of them.

Speaking to the security-focused platform <a href=”https://techreport.com/” target=”_blank” rel=”noreferrer noopener”>Techreport.com about the Sussexes, Karloff explained: “When Harry and Meghan first came [to the U.S.], it was a mad scramble to find where they were staying, where they were going to be living, and it was every photographer in LA trying to find out every secret. At the same time, they were running around doing mock photo ops, they were doing setups, they would pop up and be doing some charity work, and I think it was their photographers, so everyone was very frustrated.

“I shot them at a couple of events when they first arrived and then I decided it was too much for me, the craziness of that kind of photo. I stay away from it because it’s not exclusive, and they don’t make as much money.”

Karloff added: “Now they aren’t worth the hassle, and the payday isn’t the same; people don’t care as much as they used to. Ultimately, they can’t hide forever, so there are opportunities to get them, but I think they want control, Meghan especially. In the U.S., and in my experience, it has died down a lot. The photographers wait for an opportunity to get them instead of actively trying to get them.”

Arthur Edwards has been with The Sun newspaper since 1977. During that time, he has photographed members of the royal family on hundreds of international tours, at seven weddings, and at five funerals including that of the late Queen Elizabeth II.

Royal Family Photographer Reveals What Meghan Markle Did That Made Taking Pictures of Her so ‘Unusual’

He always had a good relationship with the family, but revealed things with Prince Harry deteriorated after he met Meghan.

In a column for <a href=”https://www.thesun.co.uk/fabulous/20989928/camilla-stood-up-harry-revolting-bile/” target=”_blank” rel=”noreferrer noopener”>The Sun about the Duke of Sussex, Edwards detailed just how great Harry had been to work with in the past, describing him as a “photographer’s dream.” But that was then. These days, Harry is one of the most unpopular royals in the U.K. polls. And according to Edwards, everything shifted after the prince met the now-Duchess of Sussex.

“Suddenly, one day in Manchester after he had met Meghan, everything changed,” Edwards recalled. “He could not even look at me, let alone talk to me. He just got in the car and drove off. Meghan was not even with him that day. After that, I went to Morocco and Ireland with him where he seemed … very off with everyone. He had suddenly gone from a newspaper’s darling to doing a complete 180-degree turn. His whole attitude to the media changed. He appeared not to want anything to do with the media ever again.”
