Prime Video is giving fans their first official glimpse at the 1950s-set “The Boys” prequel “Vought Rising,” and the newly released images show Jensen Ackles suited up once again as Soldier Boy alongside several other Supes ready to make their mark on the twisted superhero world. The photos published by Amazon’s Prime Video highlight Ackles’ updated, period-appropriate armor, Mason Dye as the explosive-powered Bombsight, Will Hochman as Torpedo, and Elizabeth Posey as Private Angel. The designs mix retro style with the brutal edge the franchise is known for, giving fans their first taste of the show’s vintage-meets-violent tone.

The star-studded cast also includes Aya Cash returning as Stormfront, though in this earlier era she goes by the name Clara Vought, as well as KiKi Layne, Jorden Myrie, Nicolò Pasetti, Ricky Staffieri, and Brian J. Smith. With a plot centered on a twisted murder mystery, the prequel will expand the “The Boys” universe while taking it into fresh and unpredictable territory.

“Vought Rising” will explore the origins of the Vought corporation in the 1950s, focusing on Soldier Boy’s early exploits and the political maneuvering of Clara Vought. Series creators Eric Kripke and Paul Grellong have teased a storyline filled with intrigue, power plays, and dangerous alliances. Grellong describes the series as both a political thriller and a family drama set in the chaotic, formative years of the United Federation of Planets — in this case, the “federation” being Vought’s growing empire.

The hourlong drama comes from “The Boys” executive producer Paul Grellong, who serves as showrunner, with franchise creator Eric Kripke also executive producing alongside Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg, James Weaver, Neal H. Moritz, Ori Marmur, Pavun Shetty, Ken Levin, Jason Netter, Garth Ennis, Darick Robertson, Michaela Starr, and Jim Barnes. Jensen Ackles and Aya Cash are also on board as producers.

Expanding “The Boys” Universe with a 1950s Twist

Produced by Sony Pictures Television and Amazon MGM Studios in association with Kripke Enterprises, Point Grey Pictures, and Original Film, “Vought Rising” is leaning heavily into its 1950s setting, giving fans a mix of glamorous period visuals and the sharp, satirical bite the franchise has built its reputation on. The new series will explore pivotal moments in Vought’s rise to power, including the creation of some of its most controversial Supes and the ruthless tactics used to maintain dominance.

The reveal of the costumes hints at a production committed to authenticity, blending sleek, era-specific designs with the raw brutality of the “The Boys” world. Following the massive success of “The Boys” Season 4, which dominated Prime Video’s charts earlier this year, “Vought Rising” looks poised to keep the momentum going with a fresh perspective on familiar characters.

Prime Video has not yet announced a release date for “Vought Rising,” but with this first look sparking heavy buzz online, fans of “The Boys” may soon find themselves heading back in time for the bloodiest history lesson Vought has ever told.
