Piers Morgan could be the reason Spice Girls ‘can’t reunite’ for epic Glastonbury set

If anyone was thinking about a Spice Girls Glastonbury 2025 reunion, you can think again.

The five-piece girl band – responsible for hits including Spice Up Your Life, Wannabe and 2 Become 1 – haven’t performed together since 2019, when they set out on tour as a four-person group, without Victoria Beckham, who is very much in popstar retirement.

Before then, the last time the five stars all performed together – save VB’s 50th birthday bash, when they danced in an iconic video shared by David Beckham earlier this year – was in 2012, for the London Olympics closing ceremony.

But while the 2019 UK and Ireland tour was a success, producing $78.2million and selling almost 700,000 tickets, it’s now claimed it was an interview that year which sealed the Spice Girls’ fate forever – and it involved Piers Morgan.

Melanie Brown – or Mel B, or Scary Spice – sat down with the TalkTV presenter before their tour kicked off in May 2019, and revealed something bandmate Geri Halliwell-Horner would have rather kept private.

Appearing on Piers’ show Life Stories – where he interviewed famous people about anything and everything – Mel B nodded her head when asked if she’d slept with Geri, ‘like that’.

‘There were rumours you and Geri were more than just good friends, you’ve had a little dabble? Anything you want to share with the group?’ asked Piers.

‘She had great boobs,’ replied Mel B, before Piers pressed her and she eventually conceded with a nod, and declared: ‘She’s going to hate me for this because she’s all posh in her country house with her husband. It’s the past. It wasn’t a thing, it happened and we just giggled at it and that was it.’

Mel B added: ‘She’s going to kill me and so is my husband, well she’s not that posh now is she.’

Now, a source has told the Daily Mail this moment could be why the Spice Girls aren’t reuniting any time soon: ‘Managing all five Spice Girls is probably the toughest job in the business, but it is the fallout between Mel B and Geri that makes the job seem like a nightmare.

‘There is always something going on between them – deep down they love one another, but Geri just can’t understand why Mel had to tell the world about their fling.

‘It has caused a whole load of drama, so they are struggling.

‘The girls are certain that they can get some big gigs, Glastonbury even, if they find the right manager – but they can’t.’

In 2023, Mel B addressed the idea of a reunion in Sky News, as she said: ‘There will be if I’ve got anything to do with it.’

Chatter about a possible Spice Girls reunion comes as Oasis finally buried the hatchet after 15 years of beef between brothers Noel and Liam Gallagher.

Aside from Geri and Mel B, the idea of a reunion doesn’t have as much appeal unless Victoria gets back on board, which looks unlikely, the source added.

David Beckham told Variety in June he was ‘the most excited of anyone’ to see all five Spice Girls together at Victoria Beckham’s 50th birthday party in April.

However, he dashed reunion hopes, as he said: ‘Unfortunately, that’s not happening.

‘Victoria was so pleased to see the girls, and it was a massive part of her life, the girls, but obviously, all the girls have got their own things going on.’

However, David is going to keep on pushing the idea for fans.

“There’s nothing more that I’d like to see than the girls on stage again, so I’ll still work at it, don’t worry!’ he added.
