Megan McKenna has revealed she was rushed to hospital after experiencing ‘the most painful’ abscess.

The former The Only Way is Essex star, 31, is currently pregnant, with the hospital dash being the second time she has fallen ill in the past few weeks.

Sharing a post on Instagram, she wrote: ‘Sorry I’ve been quiet I’ve been really unwell, I have an abscess which has been the most painful thing I’ve ever experienced and I’ve had an allergic reaction to medication I took for it. It all led to bad swelling in and under my tongue and neck which has been very scary.’

Megan then went on to thank medical staff at the hospital she was taken to.

‘I can’t thank Birmingham City Hospital enough and the ambulance service for taking care of me this morning. The care I received was amazing, I’m still recovering and still a bit swollen but I’m on the right medication to help it,’ she continued.

Concluding her post, the reality star went on to write that she had ‘wanted to get back to your DMS as I know some of you have been worried about me’ and thanked followers for checking in.

‘I’ll be posting some cute food videos from before I was unwell soon that I never got to post…so hope you enjoy,’ she added.

Last month Megan, who has also appeared on Celebrity Big Brother, The X Factor: Celebrity and Celebrity MasterChef, shared details of a harrowing allergic reaction that also saw her make a trip to the emergency room.

Following a medicated IVF transfer, her stomach doubled in size suddenly, with Megan frightened for how it may impact her unborn child, whom she is expecting with fiancé Oliver Burke, 26.

Posting a video on social media, she explained that she was particularly sensitive to some medicines, however despite her concerns doctors assured her the allergic reaction wouldn’t affect the baby.

The scare came a week after Megan announced her pregnancy publicly, sharing details of her IVF journey.

While the couple had been trying to get pregnant for some time, they eventually decided to go to a fertility clinic as Megan has PCOS (polycystic ovarian syndrome).

Megan and Oliver became engaged in June last year after dating for five months.
