
Footage of Resident Evil Requiem running on the Switch 2 has emerged, showing how the console can be a powerhouse in the right hands.
While Mario Kart World and Donkey Kong Bananza are both impressive showcases for the Nintendo Switch 2, the jury is still out when it comes to ports of third party games. Although there’s a growing body of evidence to suggest that the Switch 2’s abilities have been underestimated.
Since the console launched in June, we’ve seen impressive ports of Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition and Star Wars Outlaws. However, while the picture has been mostly positive so far, there has been concern around the performance of upcoming titles like Elden Ring and Persona 3 Reload.
If you want to calm fears around what the Switch 2 is capable of, you might want to check out some early footage of Resident Evil Requiem running on the console, which looks very impressive.
Capcom’s upcoming survival horror sequel is playable at the Tokyo Game Show this weekend, and several outlets have posted footage showing the demo in action on the Switch 2.
While it’s best to wait until the game launches on February 27 next year, before making any bold proclamations, it appears to be running better than expected, with some reporting 60fps with few graphical compromises.

Better yet, all the footage shows the game running in handheld mode, so it’ll likely be even more impressive when docked to the TV.
It’s important to note this footage is from a demo, so there’s a chance the final game could suffer from some issues – but it nevertheless looks promising, especially as the Switch 2 version is launching simultaneously with the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC versions next year.
It’s another sign that the Switch 2 will have a bright future when it comes to third party support, even if game sales around launch were less than optimal. Final Fantasy 7 Remake was similarly impressive when we tried it out at Gamescom, and its sequel Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, is confirmed to be on the way.
Along with Resident Evil Requiem, Capcom is bringing Resident Evil 7 and Resident Evil Village to the Switch 2 on the same day. Both games were previously released via cloud versions on the original Switch, such the older console can’t run them natively.
New protagonist Grace Ashcroft takes the lead in Resident Evil Requiem, but insiders claim series veteran Leon S. Kennedy is set to be playable in the sequel as well. Although hopes that might be confirmed this week have not been borne out.
