Rob Reiner’s final interview aired on Sunday, December 21âone week after he and wife Michele Singer Reiner were found deceased in their Brentwood, California, home.
In the touching interview, Reiner opened up about his relationship with his wife of 35 years.

Reiner was filming his beloved 1989 film, “When Harry Met Sally,” when he met Singer.
During “CBS News: Rob Reiner – Scenes from a Life,” best friend Albert Brooksâwho met Reiner in high schoolâclaimed the late director was “very naive” when it came to women.
“The last shot was going to be just the two of them walking in opposite directions,” Reiner explained. “And I met Michele during the making of the movie and, you know, we hit if off, and I thought, ‘Oh, I get it. I get what happened. I get how this works.’ And so we changed it. We changed the ending.”
The couple quickly fell in love and were married just seven months later.
“I basically tell the same love story over and over,” Reiner said in a resurfaced interview shared during the Sunday, December 21, special. “The girl in the story is always much more emotionally mature. The boy is always running around like an idiot trying to catch up. trying to figure out what’s going on. Basically, it’s the girl that allows him to see what’s really inside of him and recognize how great a girl she is.”
He continued, “So I mean that’s my story. I mean, basically, my wife made me a person. You’re like half-formed when you’re a guy. You meet the right woman, and she helps you grow up.”
According to Reiner, he and Singer were set up by friend Barry Sonnenfeld. Despite initially declining to meet her, Singer showed up on set with Sonnenfeld’s girlfriend and Reiner was immediately smitten.
“I was immediately attracted to her,” he added. “We started seeing each other during the making of the movie.”

The Reiners were tragically found deceased in their Los Angeles home on Sunday, December 14. Their son Nick Reiner was taken into custody later that evening and booked the following morning.
Two days after their passing, Nick was charged with two counts of first-degree murder and held without bail.
In addition to son Nick, the late couple shared son Jake Reiner and daughter Romy Reiner. The “A Few Good Men” director was also father to daughter Tracy Reiner, whom he shared with late ex-wife Penny Marshall.
