Legendary actor and director Rob Reiner tragically passed away on Sunday, Dec. 14, at the age of 78, alongside his wife, Michele Singer Reiner.

Rob and Michele leave behind three children, with Reiner also leaving behind a daughter he adopted during his first marriage.

2. Tracy’s Mother is the Late Director Penny Marshall

Director and actress Penny Marshall was married to Reiner from 1971 to 1981, and while the two didn’t have any children together, Marshall had one, Tracy, from a previous marriage to Michael Henry.


3. Nick Co-Wrote The Semi-Autobiographical Film ‘Being Charlie

In a 2016 interview with PEOPLE, Nick opened up about his struggles with drug addiction, which began in his teens and revealed that it was the basis for the semi-autobiographical film Being Charlie that he co-wrote.


4. Jake Reiner and His Father Shared A Love of Baseball

In an interview with PEOPLE in 2023, Jake and Rob both spoke about their close bond, specifically discussing how baseball has played into that.

 “My dad was a huge, huge baseball fan. He passed it onto me, and I passed it onto Jake,” Rob told People, speaking about his father Carl Reiner.

“My dad and I talk daily about the Dodgers,” Jake added. “I’ve got a lot of opinions, and so does he.”

And one of their key memories together included a trip to the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown.

“We sat down in this theater there and they start showing the history of when Black players first came into the league. I’m sitting there next to Jake and I’m just tearing up,” Rob explained. “The lights come up and we hear that this exhibit is new. It’s designed to make a grown man cry. I said, ‘Wow. You succeeded because the whole idea of fathers passing the game down to their sons was beautiful and personal. My dad passed it to me and now I’m sitting here passing it to him.”


5. Romy Reiner Followed In Her Father’s Footsteps

Romy is the youngest child, having followed in her father’s footsteps, becoming an actress, as well as a producer and writer, according to her IMDB page. She appeared in “You People” and “Voices.”
