Sir Rod Stewart has been forced to cancel yet another concert after a health setback left him unable to perform, marking the third show he has pulled in just a matter of weeks.
The music legend, 81, was due to take to the stage at the North Island Credit Union Amphitheatre in Chula Vista, California, on Friday night as part of his One Last Time tour.
But just hours before showtime, fans were informed that the concert would not be going ahead.
A statement shared on Stewart’s social media accounts explained that the singer had developed an acute upper respiratory infection, which had led to laryngitis, leaving him unable to sing.
‘Rod Stewart very regretfully has had to cancel his show tonight in Chula Vista, California,’ the statement read.
‘He travelled to the venue and made every effort to perform, but on the advice of his doctors… he is unable to take to the stage this evening.’
The veteran rocker later addressed fans personally, sharing a photograph of himself standing alone inside the venue as crews dismantled the stage around him.
‘Following treatment, I’m feeling much better, but my voice is not,’ he wrote.
‘I’m very disappointed and sincerely apologise for any inconvenience to my fans.’
Stewart insisted he had done everything possible to save the concert before doctors intervened. ‘I did everything I could to make the show happen tonight, but unfortunately it just wasn’t possible. I will do my utmost to reschedule.’
The cancellation is the latest in a string of health-related setbacks for the Maggie May singer.
Just last month, Stewart was forced to scrap two performances from his long-running Las Vegas residency after being advised to rest his voice while recovering from a sinus infection.
At the time, he apologised to supporters and told fans he was undergoing vocal rest as he recovered.
The recent cancellations have inevitably raised concerns among fans, particularly as Stewart is currently touring what has been billed as his farewell large-scale world tour.
The One Last Time tour began in 2024 and has seen the singer perform across North America while continuing his hugely successful Las Vegas residency at Caesars Palace.
Despite the health scares, Stewart has repeatedly insisted he has no plans to retire from music altogether, although he has acknowledged that extensive touring is becoming increasingly challenging.
Last year, he was also forced to cancel and postpone several performances ahead of his widely anticipated appearance at Glastonbury Festival after battling illness.
Away from music, Stewart has remained firmly in the headlines thanks to his outspoken political comments.
The singer sparked controversy when he voiced support for Reform UK leader Nigel Farage, arguing that voters should give him a chance after years of Conservative government.

More recently, however, Stewart won praise from some fans after appearing to take a swipe at US President Donald Trump during an event attended by King Charles.
The hitmaker greeted the 77-year-old monarch at the The King’s Trust 50th Anniversary Celebration at London’s Royal Albert Hall in May and revealed that he was impressed at the way Charles handled Trump during his trip last month.
Sir Rod, 81, said: ‘May I say, well done in the Americas. You were superb, absolutely superb. Put that little ratbag in his place.’
The singer is currently scheduled to return to the stage in Colorado on June 15, although fans will undoubtedly be hoping there are no further cancellations before then.
