Romesh Ranganathan’s podcast co-host and close friend has declared: ‘He’s an honourable guy, but there could be trouble.’
The TV star and comedian has been announced as part of a star-studded lineup for series two of Celebrity Traitors alongside the likes of Maya Jama and Richard E. Grant.
But his close friendship with his fellow comedian and co-presenter Rob Beckett, who has also joined the lineup, could land him in hot water.
Actor and comedian Tom Davis, who hosts much-loved podcast Wolf and Owl alongside Romesh, told Metro that he had ‘no idea’ he was set to appear on the BBC show.
On the red carpet at the King’s Trust 50th Anniversary Celebration, the King Gary star said: ‘I had no idea he was going in, he didn’t tell anyone. I wondered why we were recording quite so many podcasts on a different schedule.’
But the 47-year-old insisted that, while self-deprecating Romesh is known for his cynical sense of humour, he will stick to the rules.
‘I think he’ll do well. If he’s a Traitor or a Faithful, either way, he’ll be great,’ he told us.
‘The one thing about him, and obviously I know him well, it’s just what an honourable guy he is. He’ll play the game in good faith. It’s the best TV show, I think it’s incredible.’
But there could be a struggle as Rob and Romesh, who have hosted Sky’s Rob and Romesh Vs for over seven years, have such a close bond.
‘I think the only trouble they’ve got straightaway is people are looking for a reason to get someone out, and him and Rob are as close as they are.
‘If you go in with that dynamic, people might just assume one of them is going to be a Traitor,’ the Wonka star said.
With intrigue ramping up on who Claudia Winkleman will choose as her Traitors, Tom does have a name in mind who could surprise viewers.

The cast for the show has been finally been confirmed, with huge names hitting the line-up.
After the incredible success of the first spin-off series, which saw Alan Carr take home the trophy and remain undetected by the Faithfuls, the celebrity version of the murder mystery style game is back for another round.
Production is already underway, with filming taking place up in the Highlands.
