Field’s sparkling blue look wowed on the carpet, yet it was her gorgeous gray hair that made the biggest statement.

“There is a sense in society that you should feel ashamed for being old … and I realized what a crock that is,” Field said. She added that letting go of people-pleasing in her 70s has given her a new sense of confidence.

With two Oscars for Best Actress and a lifetime achievement award from the Screen Actors Guild, Field remains one of Hollywood’s most credible stars.

Despite her legendary career, she admitted to Variety in 2022 that she’s only recently allowed herself to appreciate her accomplishments.

“I’ve always felt I had to keep my head down, that you can’t look up, you can never pat yourself on the back. You just have to look for the next place to land,” she said.

Field remains both hopeful and realistic about Hollywood’s future. When asked if she believes there will ever be true parity in an industry still dominated by men, the two-time Oscar winner didn’t hesitate.

“We’re never going to not be fighting,” she said, again a reminder that her resilience, both on screen and off, continues to define her legacy.

Beyond Hollywood, Field is the proud mother of three sons, Peter, Eli, and Sam, and grandmother to five grandchildren.

She has often said that becoming a mother “saved her life,” but she admits grandparenting isn’t as simple as people believe.

“You have to get to know a whole different group of people, and they are raised by different people, so you have to know what that framework is,” she explained.

“And then you have to find a place that you land together. Someplace that belongs just to the two of you… Otherwise, you’re just a glorified babysitter.”

Now in her late 70s, Field says every new decade feels monumental and she’s excited to see what comes next.
