‘Modern Family‘ fans, here is some news that will make you watch the show all over again. Sofia Vergara just had a heartwarming “Modern Family” reunion, this time, not on a TV set but at a park, for a play.

The 52-year-old actress reunited with her former co-star Jesse Tyler Ferguson while attending his performance in Twelfth Night, the current production of Free Shakespeare in the Park.

Sofia Vergara attended a special showing of Ferguson’s play, which officially opens between August 17 and September 14, 2025.

Sharing photos from the evening, Vergara gushed on Instagram, “You were amazing @jessetyler 👏👏 what an amazing show!! 🎭🎭”

Reacting to the post, one fan wrote: “MODERN FAMILY IS FOREVER FAMILY”

A “Nearly Perfect” Modern Family Reunion

In 2023, Vergara, Eric Stonestreet & Ferguson delighted fans with a “Modern Family” reunion, sharing photos & videos on Instagram.

Ferguson captioned the gathering, calling it a “Nearly perfect @modernfamily reunion. We even had our two dads [co-creators] Chris Lloyd and Steve Levitan there!”

While Ty Burrell was absent, Stonestreet explained, “For 11 years we would take family pictures for Modern Family and without missing one ever, I would always say, ‘now let’s do one without Ty.’ Last night Ty couldn’t make it to our little impromptu reunion, so I had to bring his favorite picture of Phil so we could ‘do one without Ty.’”

The actor, who played Mitchell, shared a snapshot of the downstairs hallway from his on-screen sister Claire’s home, captioning it, “Haven’t seen this view in a while.”

Eric Stonestreet, who played Mitchell’s husband Cameron, added fuel to the speculation by posting an Instagram story featuring an artificially aged photo of Jesse Tyler Ferguson with the same caption.

The playful post quickly caught fans’ attention, with one user on X exclaiming, “GUYS ERIC STONESTREET (PLAYING CAM) JUST POSTED TOO! THEY MUST BE COOKING SOMETHING FOR US OR WHAT.”

While some hoped it signaled new episodes, others speculated it could be tied to an advertisement or promotional project. Eventually, it turned out to be an ad for WhatsApp:

While speaking with ET at the Tony Awards in June 2022, Ferguson addressed the possibility of a Modern Family spinoff and confirmed that a script had already been written.

“The script’s out there and it’s very good,” he shared at the New York ceremony. “So, who knows? If someone wants to produce it, maybe.”
