Spice Girls star Mel B has signed on the dotted line to take part in a new reality series presented by Holly Willoughby, according to reports.

Mel, 48, real name Melanie Brown, is said to have signed up for Bear Hunt, a new Netflix reality show that will feature Bear Grylls in a main role.

According to insider sources, a six-figure sum has convinced her to participate in the televised contest that will see celebrities using their survival instincts to beat expert Bear in a series of challenges.

Mel is said to have flown to Costa Rica this week to join the line-up as filming begins – no premiere date is set yet, but it’s expected to hit our screens in 2025.

The show will see Bear teaching celebrities the best survival methods he’s learned over the years, before tracking them through the woods. He will attempt to catch them, those who evade capture will win a prize.

According to The Sun, ‘Mel told friends she joined up to Bear Hunt to help pay for her upcoming lavish wedding to hairdresser Rory McPhee at St. Paul’s Cathedral in London.’

Mel explained to them earlier this year: ‘As I have an MBE, I am allowed to marry at St Paul’s. They only do a small number of weddings a year so we are on the waiting list.’

She continued, saying that while the rest of the Spice Girls would be invited, ‘they won’t be bridesmaids, though, we are all too old.’

Former rugby player Danny Cipriani is also rumoured to be involved with Bear Hunt, but a full line-up is yet to be formally announced by Netflix.

In a statement, the streaming giant announced the series: ‘Bear believes there’s an action hero inside us all – even the celebs – but how strong is their will to survive?

‘As Bear puts them through their paces, those who fail to impress will face the dreaded ‘Bear Hunt’ — a brutal game of cat and mouse where they’ll be hunted down and, if captured, eliminated from the show.’

For Mel, any potential Spice Girls reunion at her future wedding will be the second in recent times, with all five of them attending Victoria Beckham’s 50th birthday bash in London earlier this month.

Mel B, Melanie C, Emma Bunton, and Geri Horner all attended the big party, with Victoria’s husband David making sure to catch the evidence on video.

The five of them sang on their biggest hits, Stop, while the former England footballer captured the footage on his phone.

Odds of the Spice Girls performing at Glastonbury were subsequently slashed in the aftermath of the video going viral.

John Hill, a spokesperson for Coral, said: ‘On the back of the Spice Girls’ surprise performance at Victoria Beckham’s birthday party, we have seen strong support for the 90s girls group to play Glastonbury in 2025.

‘We have slashed the odds in half on all five girls lining up on the Pyramid Stage [in 2025].’
