Saturday night certainly spiced up some lucky fans’ lives in Leeds as Mel B joined Melanie C in a surprise onstage reunion.
The pair of chart-toppers treated the crowd at Melanie C’s gig to a lively rendition of the Spice Girls 1997 number one single Spice Up Your Life.
They were both part of the Spice Girls’ line-up from 1994 alongside Emma Bunton, Geri Horner, and Victoria Beckham,
When it was shared on social media on Sunday by both music superstars, fans also couldn’t over how ageless both Melanies looked, saying it was ‘just like the old days’.
‘What freaking year are we in? Y’all don’t age 😭’ posted Cal in the top comment, with Diedre agreeing and admitting she had initially been ‘legitmately confused’ while others suggested it could pass for 1996.
‘That and Mel B’s shirt had me genuinely puzzled about what year I was watching! She DEF wore that print in the 90s,’ added Lynne Davidson.
‘Looking like 20 years ago,’ chimed in Leo Harley, with another fan suggesting it was ‘more like 30 years’.
‘Good to be back with my Spice sister @officialmelb in Leeds, thank you for sharing the stage with me,’ shared Melanie C in the caption, who released her ninth solo studio album on Friday, Sweat.
Mel B also appeared delighted at the impromptu duet at Leeds’ Project House as she posted a video of the song as well, writing: ‘Went to support my northern sister on the launch of her AMAZIN album SWEAT…. and she only ended up bloody gettin me on stage!

Mel had also lavished her former bandmate with praise before they sang, saying she had made her cry, while Melanie C noted that it was ‘special’ to be up there with her for the first time since the 2019 Spice Girls reunion tour.

Melanie – who has also enjoyed success as a solo artist with hits like I Turn to You and Never Be the Same Again – recently revealed she had suffered from imposter sydrome at times in her career.
‘I think all humans have impostor syndrome, and if you don’t you’re a psychopath. It’s just a part of human nature,’ she told The Guardian.
‘When I released Northern Star, I was really determined to be seen as an individual, and I did want people to see there was more to me than just Sporty Spice. I was frustrated that people weren’t ready for the Spice Girls to be solo artists. I completely accept that now, and I love Sporty Spice, and realise it’s such a huge part of who I am as a performer.’
Meanwhile, she’s also admitted that she’d love to reunite with the other Spice Girls at Glastonbury, fanning the flames of the persistent rumour/hope of many fans.
‘Glastonbury would be the pinnacle, it’s a bucket list. Spice Girls, Pyramid Stage — I like to think that will happen at some point. I’m very strongly manifesting that it will happen,’ she said while talking to Magidc Radio.
Melanie also insists that the group still have a distinctive energy, too.
‘There’s something about the dynamic of the Spice Girls — when we’re in a room together it’s electric. It still happens to this day … there is something magical about those five personalities.’
