The rumours of a new, traditional Star Fox game were true, with more Nintendo remakes allegedly set to follow this year.
In case you missed the news, Nintendo announced a brand new Star Fox game in the dead of night. Well, we say brand new; it’s yet another remake of Star Fox 64 (aka Lylat Wars).
Regardless, this is exciting stuff for not just Star Fox aficionados but Nintendo fans in general, since it was previously rumoured that a traditional Star Fox game would be announced before the end of May ahead of a summer release.
Now that rumour has proven to be accurate, it’s worth re-examining previous Nintendo leaks, and how credible they now seem.
What new Nintendo games are rumoured for Switch 2?
A lot of Nintendo related rumours emerged in March, courtesy of insider NateTheHate, who has proved consistently accurate in the past. Among them was the new Star Fox game, with everything he claimed about it, including its summer release, being on the money.

He also accurately claimed that Splatoon Raiders and Rhythm Paradise Groove would receive summer release dates so, barring behind the scenes changes in response to all this (Nintendo often seems to change its plans as much as possible, following a leak) NateTheHate’s other Nintendo rumours are sounding very believable.
The big two rumours are a remake of The Legend Of Zelda: Ocarina Of Time for the second half of this year (which the website VGC also confirmed) and a new 3D Super Mario game for 2027.
Aside from that, he’s claimed Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave is another summer release, alongside a Nintendo Switch Sports title (either a new game or a Switch 2 upgrade) and a Switch 2 Edition for Pikmin 4.
Lastly, he claims FromSoftware’s Switch 2 exclusive The Duskbloods is aiming for late 2026. Altogether, that’s a lot of games planned for this year, which Nintendo should go into detail about at its annual summer Nintendo Direct showcase, which NateTheHate believes will be happening in June as usual.
These haven’t been the only Nintendo rumours flying around though. There are theories that Monolith Soft teased a Switch 2 upgrade for Xenoblade Chronicles 2 last year.
Additionally, ahead of NateTheHate’s own batch of Nintendo rumours in March, someone on YouTube named Malo932 made several claims of their own, including everything NateTheHate later predicted, such as the June release window for the new Star Fox.
According to them, Nintendo is planning a Super Metroid remake, a new Wario Land for 2027, and a second larger scale Star Fox ‘adventure’ game for next year.
Lastly, another YouTuber, Poro Michele, alleged that they had received an anonymous message detailing several of NateTheHate’s claims six days before he made them, as well as a couple of new ones: Mario Kart World DLC for 2027 and a new Metroid game from MercurySteam, which made Metroid Dread.
Naturally, all of this must be taken with a grain of salt, but multiple sources sharing the same and correct Star Fox details, independently of each other, can’t be a coincidence.

It’s not just video game rumours either. Just today, movie insider Daniel Richtman (DanielRPK) claimed that Nintendo and Illumination are teaming up again for a Star Fox movie.
There’s also talk of Princess Peach getting her own film after a screenshot of an Illumination Studios employee’s LinkedIn profile was shared on X, which mentions an ‘Untitled P P movie’ being in the works.
That’s all in addition to a long rumoured Donkey Kong spin-off, which is assumed to be the reason he was only a brief cameo in The Super Mario Galaxy Movie.
How much is Star Fox on Switch 2?
As for things Nintendo has officially confirmed, the new Star Fox game is scheduled for June 25 and is being sold for £41.99, at least digitally. At the time of writing, a physical version has yet to be listed on Nintendo’s website.
While it’s a remake of Star Fox 64, it will include new cinematics, a co-op mode, mouse controls, a new challenge mode, and an online 4v4 multiplayer mode.
Nintendo has also partnered with Japanese company Sanei to release plush toys of the Star Fox crew, which will also release in June for 3,300 yen each, which is roughly £15.49. Criminally, though, they’re so far only confirmed for Japan.
