Euphoria is over, leaving us with the genuine possibility that this era-defining Gen Z show ended with (spoiler!) Rue…reincarnating into a calf?
It’s probably better than the poisonous fate that was meted out to Nate Jacobs.
The show might have wrapped up with the third season, but Sydney Sweeney has said there are still some scenes that were left on the cutting room floor, including one of her character Cassie pole dancing.
The 28-year-old has said she took the scene seriously, undertaking lessons to prepare for it.
The setup was that Cassie and Maddy visited The Silver Slipper strip club for a photoshoot. Speaking to Vanity Fair, Sweeney explained: ‘Cassie starts to see the girls on stage, and she gets really excited.
‘She’s like, “Wow, these girls are beautiful. I could do this”. She gets wasted and she goes up on the stage. She gets all dressed up and Cassie pole dances.’

She added: ‘Imagine crazy Cassie on a pole, which was hilarious. But man, these girls are strong.’
Euphoria creator Sam Levinson had forewarned Sweeney a couple of days before the scene was set to air that it had been chopped from the final edit.
‘I was like, “Totally get it”,’ Sweeney recalled. ‘I definitely was disappointed. But he was like, “Maybe we should release it as behind-the-scenes footage or deleted scenes”.
‘I was like, “Please do, because I put a lot of hard work into that”.’
Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, who plays Alamo on the show, has also referred to the scene, explaining it as a piece of Cassie’s frenemy Maddy being in debt to his character.
‘Part of that debt was also going to be paid by me owning Cassie, and basically, everything she’s earning is going directly into my pocket,’ Akinnuoye-Agbaje explained to Collider.
‘She was demonstrating how she was going to work in my club. I don’t know how much you can say about those, but they were interesting and great to shoot.’
Akinnuoye-Agbaje also defended the show against the vocal criticism it received, in an interview with Metro, arguing that ‘these things actually happen’.
He said: ‘Let’s just put it this way, Alamo Brown is there to usher in a rude awakening for this younger generation of characters,’ he said.
‘They’re no longer in high school and some of them have dabbled on the other side of the law, and when you do that, there are, some very strict consequences.
‘I think the audience can really expect things to see things accelerate in not such a pleasant way. The characters are going to have to face those consequences in the world of Mr Brown.’
The season finale of Euphoria is available to watch on HBO Max, Sky Atlantic and NOW.
