Sydney Sweeney has taken to Instagram to convey her immense pride at being part of “Christy” and to thank those who’ve shown interest in it for allowing her to deliver its message.
The 28-year-old star of 2023’s “Anyone but You” and 2024’s “Immaculate” â who plays the eponymous former boxer Christy Martin in the new sports biopic â shared a post on her personal account with her 25.4 million followers.
The post in question is a reel of 20 images from the “Christy” set, including many of Sweeney looking almost unrecognizable as the inspiring Martin.

The images in the post include Sweeney made up to look bloody for some fight scenes, the star posing with several members of the movie’s cast, and one of Chad L. Coleman in his role as Don King.
The caption accompanying the images began, “i am so deeply proud of this movie.”
It then continued with three further paragraphs discussing how proud Sweeney is of the movie, its story, and the fact she got to represent someone as “strong” and “resilient” as Christy Martin â in fact, the actress called it “one of the greatest honors of my life.”
Sweeney goes on to talk about how the movie stands for survival, courage, and hope, and how she hopes its story and message will help countless women experiencing domestic violence and even potentially save lives.
She finished by thanking everyone who’s seen the movie so far for allowing its message to spread, then telling Christy Martin how much she loves her.

American Eagle â the brand for whom Sweeney appeared in an advertising campaign that brought much unfortunate criticism her way â had their say, responding to Sweeney with a supportive “you crushed this ð.”
One follower wrote, “I saw the movie yesterday. You were excellent. It was definitely an Oscar worthy performance. I wish you continued success in your acting career.”
