Taylor Swift has confirmed reports of a ‘secret’ film coming to cinemas, revealing she will celebrate her new album with a theatrical release party.
The 35-year-old superstar will release The Life of a Showgirl on October 3 and mark the occasion with an 89-minute theatrical experience for fans over that weekend in AMC cinemas in the US.
And British fans, fear not, as Odeon cinemas are gearing up to join the party too, with the website showing tickets will be bookable from Tuesday, September 23.
Being Taylor, it’s not just any old livestream either – she has, of course, put together a bespoke package of exclusive filmed content around her new album.
The special screenings will include the world premiere of the music video The Fate of Ophelia, along with behind-the-scenes footage from the music video shoot, brand new lyric videos, and Taylor’s never-before-seen personal reflections on songs from her 12th studio album.
She’s also an expert at blessing fans in the cinema as well, following Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour in 2023, which broke records and became the highest-grossing concert film of all time, raking in $261million (£193.6m) at the box office.

Taylor shared the information on Instagram, following up her engagement announcement with Travis Kelce, writing: ‘I hereby invite you to a dazzling soirée, The Official Release Party of a Showgirl: Oct 3 – Oct 5 only in cinemas!
‘You’ll get to see the exclusive world premiere of the music video for my new single The Fate of Ophelia, along with never before seen behind-the-scenes footage of how we made it, cut by cut explanations of what inspired this music, and the brand new lyric videos from my new album The Life of a Showgirl.
‘Looks like it’s time to brush off that Eras Tour outfit or orange cardigan… Tickets are on sale now. Dancing is optional but very much encouraged.’
As tickets went live in America at 12:12pm EST, a nod to it being the music superstar’s twelfth album, fans flooded the AMC app and website, which created a special queuing system in anticipation of exceptional demand.
Variety reported that a message popped up alongside a constant 2-minute estimated wait time, reading: ‘Thank you for your patience as we experience high traffic volume. We have proactively created this queue for all visitors. When it is your turn, you will have 10 minutes to begin your ‘Taylor Swift | The Official Release Party of a Showgirl’ ticket purchase or other online visit.’
The cinema chain had also disabled the ability to buy tickets for other films showing, adding: ‘To purchase tickets or make A-list reservations today for movies that are now playing, please visit an AMC Theatre near you or check back later.’
A spokesperson for AMC commented: ‘The power of the Swifties remains unmatched! But rest assured, our website and mobile app are both stable, and we’re continuing to sell tickets online in big numbers.’

The Official Release Party of a Showgirl will also play in more than 100 additional countries outside of the US and UK.
Initially, it will be shown in countries including Canada, Mexico, Ireland, France, Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Belgium, the Netherlands, Luxembourg, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Finland, South Africa, Australia and New Zealand.
Other international territories are expected to play the experience at a later weekend date in October.
This is the second collaboration between Taylor and AMC Theatres Distribution, which launched with the top-selling success of Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour.
Taylor Swift: The Official Release Party of a Showgirl will release in UK and US cinemas October 3-5. UK fans can get tickets here from September 23.
