As excitement builds for The Inbetweeners 3, it’s been revealed that one of the boys is getting married – and we’re sure the ceremony will run smoothly without any hiccups…
Following weeks of palpable rumours, it was confirmed earlier this month that a third film is in production with Netflix, 12 years since we last saw the awkward foursome together on the silver screen.
James Buckley, 39, Blake Harrison, 41, Simon Bird, 42, and Joe Thomas, 42, will reprise their roles as Jay Cartwright, Neil Sutherland, Will McKenzie, and Simon Cooper, respectively, and they’ve been spotted on set, slotting right back into the characters we know and love.
Committing to the part once more, Buckley has returned to Jay’s trademark blonde locks, shaved his beard, and transported us instantly back to the late 2000s.
His new look was unveiled in a Cameo he filmed for a fan, which some reckon also gave a spoiler for Jay’s storyline, noticing he was wearing a jacket with ‘Cartwright Plant’ on the front.
Meanwhile, the other three lads have long ditched their school uniforms and are – perhaps worryingly – fully-fledged adults, with a major milestone on the horizon for one of them.

New photos from the set show a wedding taking place, with each of the actors donning smart attire for the occasion.
As for who is getting hitched, that remains a mystery, since specific plot details are being kept under wraps, but we do know the lucky bride is played by Marina Bye.
The actress, who is also comedian Ruby Wax’s daughter, didn’t appear in the original TV series or its subsequent films, but she’s no stranger to a big movie production, with her credits including Wonka (2023), Breathe (2017), and Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy (2025).
She was spotted wearing an extravagant bridal gown and veil, implying she has a significant role in one of the guys’ lives.
Meanwhile, Bird was spotted with US actress Hannah Cruz, suggesting she, too, could be playing a new woman in his life.
Cruz, also a Broadway performer, has appeared in Hamilton, Suffs, and Chess.
Who is in The Inbetweeners 3 cast?
As well as the chaotic quartet, Carli D’Amato is back on the scene, having famously been Simon’s teenage obsession in their school years.
Emily Head, 37, was seen shooting with the other cast members but didn’t appear to be one of the wedding guests – we’ll have to wait and find out what Carli and Simon’s relationship is today, although if she’s around, something tells us he’ll be anything but chill.
Also back is Martin Trenaman, 64, who played Simon’s dad, Alan Cooper, in both the TV series and two feature films, as well as Dominic Applewhite, 31, who played Andrew, Simon’s brother.
As for newcomers, there are plenty of fresh faces to be expected in the third instalment, with Marama Corlett, Lisanne Falk, Tadhg Murphy, and Vanessa Eng pictured on set.
Jack Staddon from Slow Horses and Ewan Mitchell of Saltburn (2023) have been seen among the cast, too, with Mitchell playing a vicar.
Is Emily Atack in The Inbetweeners 3?
Someone whose name is unlikely to appear in the credits, however, is Emily Atack.
The newly married Rivals actress, of course, played Charlotte ‘Big Jugs’ Hinchcliffe originally, a role she didn’t reprise for the two movies.
It was previously reported that she had been ‘holding up’ the reunion due to a feud with co-star Buckley, whom she had ‘a couple of cheeky snogs’ with back in the day, leading to him allegedly issuing an ‘it’s her or me’ ultimatum.
Buckley was reportedly worried that working with Atack again could cause friction in his marriage to Clair Meek.
Consequently, she was ‘blocked’ from featuring in The Inbetweeners Fwends Reunited 10th anniversary special in 2019, which is the last time the cast was on-screen together. Atack was ‘gutted’, a source claimed at the time.
Bosses were said to be keen to get her on board this time around, believing she would be the ‘cherry on the Inbetweeners cake’, but there’s been no sign of her yet, in either the teaser trailer announcement or the wedding scene pictures.
Speaking in 2024, Atack told Capital FM that she ‘didn’t know’ whether there could be another outing.
‘I don’t know. We’d all be quite a lot older now,’ she mused.
‘What was quite funny was when we filmed the series, I was only 17; I’d just left school, but the boys were well into… I think they were in their late twenties, early thirties.’
Nevertheless, with or without Atack, the new film is surely in safe hands, as Inbetweeners creators, Damon Beesley and Iain Morris, have written and are directing it for Netflix.
On reviving the beloved franchise once more, Beesley and Morris said in a joint statement: ‘It’s been super-fun hanging out with our friends again, and we’re going to work hard every week to ensure there are no problemos making this new film for humans.’
