<p id=”par-1_24″>Most royal fans remember the day Prince Harry and Meghan Markle <a href=”https://www.cheatsheet.com/news/prince-harry-was-able-to-marry-meghan-markle-because-she-didnt-do-this-1-thing-in-her-past.html/”>were married</a> in a grand affair at St. George’s Chapel, Windsor Castle. </p>
<p id=”par-2_29″>The bride wore a Givenchy gown by British fashion designer Clare Waight Keller. Meghan’s dress was made of silk and featured a boat neckline. It was paired with a 16-foot-long veil. </p>
<p id=”par-3_80″>The Duke and Duchess of Sussex said “I do” on May 19, 2018, in front of around 600 guests with millions more around the world, who tuned in to see the pair tie the knot. The wedding was a star-studded affair with many celebrities in attendance, including George and Amal Clooney, Serena Williams, Oprah Winfrey, and Idris Elba. And of course, the members of Harry’s family from Queen Elizabeth II to the lesser-known royals, were all on hand as well.</p>

<p id=”par-5_38″>Grant Harrold was <a href=”https://www.cheatsheet.com/news/former-royal-butler-reveals-amazed-king-charles-infamous-pen-incident.html/?swcfpc=1″>King Charles’s butler</a> for seven years. During his time working for the now-monarch, his duties included those of valet, housekeeper, house manager, and driver. Harrold also looked after <a href=”https://www.cheatsheet.com/tag/prince-william?swcfpc=1″>Prince William</a> and Prince Harry whenever the brothers stayed at Highgrove House.</p>
<p id=”par-6_55″>Harrold explained in his book <em>The Royal Butler: My remarkable life of Royal Service</em> that when the ceremony concluded and the newlyweds left the chapel for their carriage to ride around Windsor, Queen Elizabeth’s husband, Prince Philip, was heard telling his wife that he was glad the wedding was finally over while dropping an obscenity. </p>
<p id=”par-7_46″>“Once all the formalities were over, we watched as the happy couple, and then the other members of the royal family, filed out of the chapel,” Harold wrote (per <a href=”https://www.express.co.uk/news/royal/2097740/prince-harry-meghan-markle-wedding-royal-verdict” target=”_blank” rel=”noreferrer noopener”>Express</a>). “When Prince Philip came out, he turned to the queen and said, Thank f*** that’s over.”</p>

<p id=”par-8_48″>Royal biographer Ingrid Seward said that the late monarch was a little worried about Prince Philip that day. That’s because he attended the wedding just weeks after having hip surgery, and she wondered if he would be able to make it up and down the aisle to their seats.</p>
<p id=”par-9_44″>“She was also concerned about 96-year-old Prince Philip’s decision to hobble down the aisle without a stick, despite having had a hip replacement just five weeks before,” the author wrote per <a href=”https://www.mirror.co.uk/3am/us-celebrity-news/queen-elizabeth-uncomfortable-four-moments-32842659″ target=”_blank” rel=”noreferrer noopener”>The Mirror</a>, before adding that Philip did not show any problems walking that day.</p>
<p id=”par-10_46″>Seward also shared that Queen Elizabeth and Philip were not fond of long sermons, so they didn’t exactly enjoy hearing Archbishop Michael Curry, who had never met Meghan and Harry before that day, go on for 14 minutes about how much the couple loved each other.</p>
