Tom Hardy has reportedly not been fired from MobLand after claims of tension on set between him, co-stars such as Helen Mirren and producers.

The actor, 48, plays Harry De Souza, a key player between two warring families, threatening to ignite gang warfare, in this London-based crime thriller from Guy Ritchie, also starring Mirren, Pierce Brosnan and Paddy Considine.

During filming for the second season earlier this year, however, reports began to emerge about Hardy’s behaviour onset, including clashes with producers Jez Butterworth and David Glasser.

He was also said to have been ‘late to set’, ‘constantly asking for script notes’, and to have complained about the ensemble direction of the show, as well as specifically clashing with co-star Helen.

Earlier this week, The Hollywood Reporter revealed his ‘fate was yet to be decided’ and further detailed that he reportedly ‘refused to leave his trailer for hours’, with sources calling his behaviour ‘career suicide’.

Now, Variety has reported that the screen star has not been fired, despite sources confirming the tensions were real.

‘Tom was not fired, the door is not closed for Season 3, and things are being worked through creatively,’ one source told the publication.

Another added: ‘I’m sure Guy is probably pushing David Glasser to make it work. Guy likes working with Tom.’

One source claimed issues had arisen for Hardy after scripts from Butterworth reportedly kept being delivered late, with little access to him to discuss what was on the page.

Despite his struggles with the script, he trusts Ritchie to get the shot and keep him in check, an insider shared.

As for the rumoured tension between him and Mirren, a source claimed: ‘I know she’s said to him a couple of times: “Come on Tom, we’ve been here for ages, let’s get on with it,’ but she’s never appeared to be anti-Tom”.’

This certainly seems to be backed up by Helen’s own post to Instagram in which she shared an image of Tom with the text: ‘Love you now and always, Helen,’ overlaid on top, but no caption.

Specifically addressing chatter of a political clash over their views on Gaza, the source continued: ‘I’ve never heard of anything political.’

With another agreeing: ‘She’s not the sort of person who’s going to get involved in a whole political situation. She just isn’t. She certainly isn’t going to be one who stamps her feet and says: “Well I’m not coming back if he’s in it.’ It’s just not her.”‘

Ultimately, one source claimed that although Hardy is ‘known for being tricky’, he’s ‘got a good heart’ and the crew will be looking to resolve any rifts to have him back if possible.

Anson Boon as Eddie Harrigan, Joanne Froggatt as Jan Da Souza, Mandeep Dhillon as Seraphina Harrigan, ara Pulver as Bella Harrigan, Paddy Considine as Kevin Harrigan, Pierce Brosnan as Conrad Harrigan, Helen Mirren as Maeve Harrigan, Tom Hardy as Harry Da Souza, and Daniel Betts as Brendan Harrigan in Mobland, season 1,

‘I would certainly imagine if Guy had anything to say about it he’d probably be wanting to patch it all up because he knows how integral Tom is to the success of it,’ they concluded.

This will come as joyous news to many fans who had vowed to quit watching the show if Hardy was no longer part of it.

Season three is yet to be officially greenlit, but it is said producers would hope to start filming in September once they have the go-ahead.

MobLand season one is available to stream on Paramount Plus. There is no release date for season two yet.
