A This Morning chef has reassured fans she’s recuperating with a ‘cocktail in hand’ after Jimmy Carr’s behaviour towards her was branded ‘incredibly rude’.

The comedian, who is no stranger to controversy and causing offence with his humour, sparked outrage on the ITV programme on Friday when he appeared alongside Alison Hammond, Dermot O’Leary and Clodagh McKenna.

Jimmy, 51, was accused of ‘heckling’ and being ‘so rude’ as he interrupted her cooking segment.

At one point, he interjected: ‘What? Have you not got a bin?’

He then spoke over her, saying, while she was trying to explain the recipe: ‘It’s gone, the chicken is gone.’

And he later made a jibe saying: ‘Wait until she finds out about stock cubes! She’s going to feel a fool, they’re not even expensive!’

Fans rushed to Clodagh’s defence, and sent their messages of support after her latest Instagram post, which showed her looking exhausted following filming, but grinning alongside Alison and Dermot.

The author, 48, wrote: ‘One chicken, 3 recipes, one @jimmycarr I’m officially ready for the weekend.’

She shared her love for Alison and Dermot, signing off the post with: ‘And if you didn’t catch todays cook you can watch it there too, it’s very funny…’

‘TGIF,’ she added.

Follower @jen_lovinglife commented: ‘I’m sorry the 3 of them talked over the top of you so much, as a viewer it made it hard to hear so must have been frustrating for you! Great recipes though and can’t wait to try.’

‘You were amazing Clodagh under extreme interference!!’ @bizzo07 added, to which the TV star replied: ‘it was fun!’

She also confirmed she was relaxing ‘currently with cocktail in hand in our pub’ to another follower, @louisaguinness, who had said: ‘I bet you need a rest. I hope you have one.’

@catrinnewman blasted: ‘Jimmy Carr was incredibly rude to you and Dermot and Alison clearly felt awkward. It’s such a shame that the producers didn’t get them to remove him from there or at least point out he was being rude and ruining your item.’

@suemperrman added: ‘Felt so sorry for you, Jimmy Carr was just rude and not at all funny.’

‘You’re some lady to keep your cool this morning, Clodagh,’ @joseph6954 meanwhile praised, as @brigid_m_corcoran said: ‘Clodagh you were an absolute trooper I truly don’t know how you maintained your professionalism with that awfully rude man Jimmy Carr talking over your segment and making smarty comments. He was so rude. Hats off to you my dear.’

Jimmy has previously spoken about backlash he’s faced, with people calling his attempt at humour ’embarrassing’ in his latest comedy special Natural Born Killer.

Having claimed he was ‘cancelled’ in 2022 after joking about Roma people murdered in the Holocaust, Jimmy has since addressed the reaction, saying to viewers trying to ‘get [him] cancelled’: ‘Good luck.’

During an appearance on The One Show last month, the 8 Out of 10 Cats star explained: ‘Jokes are like magnets. They attract some people, people come to see me and they really enjoy their night out and we have fun, and they’re just jokes, but like magnets, jokes attract and they repel.

‘Some people are repelled by my jokes, and they’re sat at home now, writing to Points of View, trying to get me cancelled. Good luck.’

He added: ‘Criticism is fine, cancellation is the new burning books, whereas criticism is absolutely valid, I’m not for everyone, I’m a strong flavour.’

This Morning airs weekdays from 10am on ITV1.
