For the past few years now, Apple TV has consistently churned out some of the most exciting and thrilling new crime dramas.
From the likes of the award-winning Slow Horses, which has been dubbed a ‘masterpiece’ by fans, to Emma Thompson’s Down Cemetery Road, the streaming platform certainly knows how to make a gritty British thriller.
But, according to TV fans, one thing that Apple TV has failed to do is, well… market them.
Following the announcement that the second season of Criminal Record is streaming on April 22, viewers have shared their fury over the lack of pre-warning.
First released in 2024, the drama follows two detectives, Daniel Hegarty (Peter Capaldi) and June Lenker (Cush Jumbo) who re-open a long-closed murder case following an anonymous phone call.
However, writing on X, a user called Mike slammed Apple for doing ‘NO marketing’ for the crime series.
He added: ‘Probably my favorite crime drama of the last few years. Didn’t even know it was renewed for a second season, much less that it premiered TODAY.’
A fan account for Apple TV also wrote: ‘At this point, I promote their shows better than they do.’
Enix, meanwhile, questioned: ‘Wait they renewed this and I just found out now?’ as Ryan said: ‘Apple has some good shows that a lot of people have never heard of.’
Echoing everybody’s concern, Shane demanded Apple TV to ‘promote your shows so I can tune in!!!’
What shows are coming out on Apple TV soon?
- Criminal Record Season 2 – April 22
- Widow’s Bay – April 29
- Cape Fear – June 5
- Sugar Season 2 – June 19
- Silo Season 3 – July 3
Bec also said: ‘This is so up my alley and I’ve never even been served this,’ as Tracey similarly added: ‘I’ve literally never even heard of this and I watch SEVERAL Apple shows! People have got to work on this!’
The Apple TV series, which is created and written by Paul Rutman, sees Daniel and June’s conflicting approaches clash as they discover deeper issues within the justice system.
As the investigation also unfolds, the show explores themes of corruption and accountability.
This comes after Apple TV recently released a ‘wickedly funny’ and provocative drama starring Nicole Kidman.
Based on a book of the same name by Rufi Thorpe, Margo’s Got Money Troubles sees young student Margo (Elle Fanning) who gets pregnant after an affair with her married college professor turns to OnlyFans.
Prior to that, Your Friends and Neighbors, which was described as ‘one of the most addictive series ever’, returned for its second season.
Starring Jon Hamm as disgraced hedge fund manager Andrew ‘Coop’ Cooper, the new 10-part series sees his world get disrupted by a new, wealthy neighbour (James Marsden).
Criminal Record Season 2 is available to stream on Apple TV.
