Virgin Island is back and wilder than ever on Channel 4 with 12 new titular virgins ready to face their hangups around intimacy head-on.

On a luxury island, the group are guided by the steady hand of Dr Danielle Harel and Celeste Hirschman through a series of workshops and private sessions that touch on both the physical and emotional.

For the most part, it is a heartwarming watch as our cast overcomes internalised insecurities and finds the joy in a new type of connection. But some moments have utterly tickled viewers.

In Tuesday night’s episode, one contestant, Bertie, has a private session centred around practising various sexual positions. Both fully clothed, he practices his thrusting technique and grows in confidence as the session progresses.

After it’s over, he relates the experience to the others and tells the camera how ‘happy’ he is feeling, with plenty of praise for the exercise.

Then, the camera catches him speaking to himself as he paces up and down a walkway, where he mutters: ‘All that thrusting has made me hurt my bollocks… gonna have to sleep on my back tonight.’

That candid moment has thoroughly amused fans, with Bertie himself getting in on the joke.

Posting a black-and-white photo of himself with that quote on top, he wrote in the caption: ‘Goodnight everyone’.

User crazynightsss shared: ‘All that thrusting has made me hurt my bollocks” is the funniest tv moment so far of 2026. Thank you, Virgin Island’.

‘Gooo Bertie. He was thrusting,’ atvfriend posted.

‘”All that thrusting has made me hurt my bollocks.” Bloomin’ love Bertie!’ Jade declared

What does Metro think of Virgin Island season 2

Metro’s TV editor Sabrina Barr shares her thoughts on the second season…

Controversial it may be, there’s no denying the impact it’s made on audiences watching at home. The virgins who go on the show are not weird, despite feeling that way – so many of their issues are common, but they’re just treated as taboo by society and not spoken about enough.

As the sex therapists explained at the screening, many who struggle in secret have no idea that they don’t have to, that there is help out there available to them.

Even if some of the people watching at home can’t relate to the hardship of wanting to be sexually active but not knowing how to get there, they might see themselves represented through other insecurities that are addressed on the programme, such as body image issues or not feeling as though they’re enough.

As for how effective the show is, it seems to have definitely helped some of the season one cast.

One member, Holly Stark, revealed she was pregnant, 11 months after appearing on the show.

Dr Danielle Harel, a sex and relationships expert who features on Virgin Island, posted: ‘Wow, this is amazing! Congratulations, sweetie!’ alongside a flurry of fan support.

As for what the show has in store for our new cohort of intimacy hopefuls, it remains to be seen.

Virgin Island continues on Monday, May 4, on Channel 4.
