
Jeff Goldblum has told a popular British television show how his role in the “Wicked” movies has inadvertently led to him stopping eating meat.
The beloved 73-year-old star of 1986’s “The Fly,” 1993’s “Jurassic Park,” and 1996’s “Independence Day” â who plays the Wonderful Wizard of Oz in both 2024’s “Wicked” and its upcoming 2025 sequel “Wicked: For Good” â was chatting to hosts Ben Shephard and Cat Deeley on long-running daytime magazine programme “This Morning.”
Goldblum was in the studio to talk about his role in the sequel, and he spent over 10 minutes talking about it with passion and enthusiasm. His chat also revealed that playing the Wizard in the franchise had prompted him to end his carnivorous lifestyle and become a pescatarian.
Jeff Goldblum Says ‘Wicked’ Role ‘Changed Me’
In his “This Morning” interview â which has been uploaded to the show’s 2.49 million subscriber YouTube channel â Goldblum went into great detail about how he had been so heavily affected by the themes of animal cruelty in the “Wicked” movies that he has completely cut all meat from his diet.
Goldblum said, “This period of time, working with Jon Chu… amazing. It’s changed me. You know, after doing this movie, we talked about the animal cruelty, I stopped eating meat and poultry.”
He continued, “We need the world to work for everybody on Earth and every creature, too.”
The actor isn’t the only star in the “Wicked” movies to be off meat. Both Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo have been vegan since 2013.
Goldblum also gushed over the whole “Wicked” experience and expressed gratitude at still landing great roles so deep into his career. He said, “It’s uncommon that you get to be doing this over a period of time and get more fertile and juicy and interesting and relevant roles for yourself at this period of time.”
