What the Critics are Saying About ‘Jurassic World Rebirth’

Jurassic World is the newest Jurassic Park movie

Many longtime “Jurassic Park” fans have their hopes set sky high for the new “Jurassic World Rebirth” movie. It hits theaters on July 2nd and stars the likes of Scarlett Johansson, Jonathan Bailey, and Mahershala Ali. Now, the review embargo has been lifted, and critics are weighing in on what could be one of the summer’s biggest hits.

Notably, Gareth Edwards is the director behind “Jurassic World Rebirth.” He also directed “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story” and “Godzilla.”

Critics Are Mixed on the New “Jurassic Park” Movie

The review embargo for “Jurassic World Rebirth” expired on June 30th. Currently, the highly anticipated film has a 57 percent rating on Rotten Tomatoes. This average is based on 69 reviews from critics who have registered with the website. It’s worth noting that this number will change as more people see the film.

Nick Schager, a top critic on Rotten Tomatoes, left a negative review of the new “Jurassic Park” movie. He said, “The underwhelming result is similar to its signature beasts: a handsome clone that serves no purpose except to line its creators’ pockets.”

Another critic, Joseph Tomastik, gave “Jurassic World Rebirth” a rating of three out of five. According to him, “Nothing about this movie feels like anything close to a grand ‘rebirth.’” Tessa Smith noted, “Even great-looking dinosaurs and some fun action sequences cannot save the slop of a story. It was impossible to connect with or care about any of the humans.”

Of course, there are some positive reactions to the new “Jurassic” movie. Tony Medley said, “This movie is a joy… featuring fine acting by a talented cast, overflowing with tension and magnificent, mind-boggling special effects. I don’t recall one slow moment after the first half hour.”

Todd Gilchrist left a positve review. He said, “Jurassic World Rebirth operates in a more classical mode than the interconnected mythmaking of too many modern franchises, as Edwards nakedly wears his influences (and wields his technical virtuosity) to tremendously crowd-pleasing effect.”

“Jurassic World Rebirth” Budget and Box Office Tracking

Despite the somewhat mixed reaction from critics, there’s a chance moviegoers will love “Jurassic World Rebirth.” This is important because movies often live or die based on word of mouth from other fans.

Regarding the movie’s budget, ScreenRant reports that it cost approximately $180 million to produce. Of course, this figure does not include marketing costs. Regarding box office tracking, the new “Jurassic Park” movie is predicted to open with between $115 and $135 million. Notably, this is over five days since the film opens on a Wednesday.
