‘White Lotus’ Star Gets Way Too Real About His Spending Habits

Jason Isaacs has played numerous unforgettable characters — from Lucius Malfoy in the “Harry Potter” series to Timothy Ratliff in “The White Lotus“. But off-screen? He’s refreshingly candid and never one to mince words.

The 62-year-old star admits his bank account might not look the way fans expect it to. Much like his White Lotus character, whose family loses everything, Jason Isaacs’ real-life spending habits aren’t all that different.

Jason Isaacs on Money: “People Think I Have Huge Stockpiles”

The English actor boasts more than 168 IMDb credits dating back to 1988, with standout roles like Lucius Malfoy in Harry Potter and Col. William Tavington in The Patriot.

Although Isaacs has built a long and successful career, he and his White Lotus co-stars earned $40,000 per episode.

“People will think I have huge stockpiles of money,” Isaacs shared in a recent interview with Vulture. “But sadly, what I’ve done rather immaturely is expand my outgoings to match my incomings and pretty much spent everything I’ve earned over the years.”

But did he feel strange earning the same as some of his less-experienced co-stars? Not one bit. “I never work for money,” he shared. “I mean, I’ve done all right. People will think I have huge stockpiles of money, but sadly, what I’ve done rather immaturely is expand my outgoings to match my incomings and pretty much spent everything I’ve earned over the years.”

What Really Brings Happiness? Not Money, Says Isaacs

For Isaacs, it’s not material things that matter most. The 61-year-old actor shared that true happiness often comes from life’s simpler moments.

“I read somewhere that if you ask people what the happiest day they’ve ever spent was, they almost always look back at something in nature: the day they were swinging across a river on a rope, or the day they went on a hike,” he said. “It’s never, ‘The day I bought my plane.’”

Well, whatever floats the boat — while being mindful with money is always wise, Jason’s candid confession proves that everyone approaches it differently. And sometimes, life’s joys aren’t about what’s in the bank.
