Sydney Sweeney has been cut from the final version of The Devil Wears Prada 2.
The actress, 28, filmed a cameo for the follow-up to the 2006 movie The Devil Wears Prada, alongside a host of other famous people who appear as themselves, peppered throughout.
However, her scene was removed due to what has been described as a creative decision, according to a report by Entertainment Weekly.
The sequel, scheduled for release on May 1, sees the return of Anne Hathaway as journalist Andy Sachs and Meryl Streep as Miranda Priestley, the editor-in-chief of the fictional Runway magazine – a character said to have been inspired by former Vogue editor Anna Wintour.
Sydney’s involvement had been confirmed after she was seen arriving on set in August 2025, with her role described as a brief appearance playing herself.
According to Entertainment Weekly, the Euphoria star’s scene was positioned near the beginning of the film but was removed because ‘it didn’t work structurally’.

The outlet reported that ‘the team working on the movie was grateful for her participation, making the decision to remove the bit a difficult one’.
Sydney’s apparent cameo reportedly ran for approximately three minutes and is said to have involved her being styled by Emily Charlton, the spiky character portrayed by Emily Blunt.
Despite the removal of this scene, the production still includes a cameo from Lady Gaga, who has also contributed to the soundtrack with songs including Runway, recorded alongside rapper Doechii, and Glamorous Life.
Other cameos include big names from the worlds of fashion, modelling, sport, music and content creation.
The sequel continues the story of Andy, who returns to work with Miranda as a features editor after 20 years, and also sees Stanley Tucci appear once more as art director Nigel.
New cast members include Bridgerton’s Simone Ashley as Miranda’s assistant, Sir Kenneth Branagh as her husband, Patrick Brammall as Andy’s new love interest, and Lucy Liu.
The original film was based on the novel by Lauren Weisberger, drawing on her experiences as a former assistant at Vogue.
In the lead-up to the sequel’s release, Meryl and Anna have appeared as cover stars for Vogue’s May issue, with Anna discussing the portrayal of the fashion industry.
Anna said in an interview conducted by Greta Gerwig: ‘What I liked about the first film is that it showed the world what a huge business fashion is.
‘It’s a true economic force globally, and the first film acknowledged that. So much has changed. But I like to think we’re evolving rather than disintegrating. We are still here. We’re all doing our jobs – in different ways and across multiple platforms instead of just one, but how wonderful is that? We’re reaching far more people.’
In The Devil Wears Prada 2, Miranda is forced to rely on the good will of former assistant Emily, now a senior executive at Dior, and the power of her ad spend to keep Runway afloat.
Meryl also addressed returning to the role, saying: ‘I do think they’ve located something true about the (fashion) business now.’
The Devil Wears Prada 2 is released in cinemas on Friday, May 1.
