One person was killed and four others injured Thursday when a vehicle driven by a 91-year-old woman crashed into a security stand in the Trader Joe’s parking lot across from The Original Farmers Market in the Beverly Grove section of Los Angeles, striking multiple pedestrians
The crash was reported about 1:20 p.m. Thursday at 7900 W. Third St., just west of Fairfax Avenue, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.
One person was pronounced dead at the scene and four others — three of them pedestrians and one of them the driver — were taken to hospitals, the department reported.
LAFD Capt. Cody Weireter told reporters at the scene the person who died was a woman, possibly in her 30s. Her name was not immediately released.
One of the patients taken to hospitals was a 19-year-old man who was in serious condition, Weireter said. The two other patients who were struck were women aged 57 and 30, both with only minor injuries. The driver of the car who struck the others was a 91-year-old woman who was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, he said.
The Los Angeles Police Department was handling the crash investigation.
