A death investigation was underway after a 1-year-old girl was found dead Friday morning in a home in South Chicago on the South Side.
Za’niya Evans was found unresponsive at a home in the 8500 block of South Muskegon Avenue around 6:50 a.m., Chicago police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office said.
She was taken to Comer Children’s Hospital, where she was pronounced dead, police said.
Autopsy results were pending.
