In addition to closures planned for late Friday through early Monday, Aug, 21-24, drivers on the southbound 405 Freeway through the Sepulveda Pass will face extended lane reductions over a weekend in September.
This coming weekend, lane reductions will start at 10 p.m. Friday, Aug. 21, and will last until 5 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 24.
According to Caltrans, the southbound 405 will be reduced to three lanes between Ventura Boulevard and Mulholland Drive. Additionally, the Ventura Boulevard on-ramp to the southbound 405 will be closed, as will the off-ramp from the northbound 405 to Getty Center Drive.
“Residents and businesses located near construction may experience noise, vibrations and dust associated with construction activities,” Caltrans advised.
Caltrans also announced weekend-long lane closures for the month of September:
Southbound lanes will be reduced to three between Ventura Boulevard and Mulholland Drive from 10 p.m. Friday, Sept. 11, through 5 a.m. Monday, Sept. 14, according to Caltrans.
Motorists were urged to use alternate routes or public transportation during the work. Northbound lanes will not be reduced during the September construction work, although one northbound off-ramp will be closed.
The Sept. 11-14 closures will include the Ventura Boulevard on-ramp to southbound 405, the southbound 405 off-ramp to Valley Vista Boulevard/Sepulveda Boulevard and the Valley Vista Boulevard/Sepulveda Boulevard on-ramp to southbound 405. The northbound freeway off-ramp to Getty Center Drive will also be closed.
Caltrans cautioned that the schedule is subject to change due to weather or operational conditions. Residents and businesses near the construction area may experience noise, vibrations and dust.
The work is part of the $143.7 million 405 Pavement Rehabilitation Project between Van Nuys and Westwood through the Sepulveda Pass. The project is intended to improve safety and mobility and extend the life of the freeway pavement.
