6-month-old dead, 7 others hurt in rollover crash on I-57 in south suburbs

A 6-month-old baby from Chicago was killed in a rollover crash Sunday evening on I-57 in the south suburbs, according to Illinois State Police.

The infant and seven other people were in a car traveling northbound near 147th Street in Harvey when the vehicle flipped around 5:45 p.m., state police said in a statement. The baby boy, identified as Dakari Lomax of Englewood, was pronounced dead at Ingalls Memorial Hospital, according to state police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

The seven other occupants were taken to hospitals with injuries. State police did not report a cause for the crash. No other vehicles were involved.

Northbound lanes and the 147th Street entrance ramp were closed until around 10:45 p.m. Sunday.
