LAS VEGAS — The Sky (10-33) dropped their two-game series with the Aces (29-14), falling 92-61 on Tuesday night.
They were once again without their top two scorers, Angel Reese and Ariel Atkins, both out with back injuries.
Coach Tyler Marsh expected Reese to play, but after warmups she communicated that she “wasn’t feeling it” physically. She had participated in shootaround earlier.
The organization suspended Reese for a half-game on Sunday and it’s now unclear where the relationship between her and the organization stands.
Meanwhile, the Aces dominated the shorthanded Sky, extending their win streak to 15.
They hit 15 threes, dished out 25 assists and had six players finish in double-digits. Marsh thought his team did a good job scrambling out of rotations, but the Aces just had the hot hand.
“They hit shots at critical moments of the game,” Marsh said.
The Sky are suffering through a cold streak themselves, with team’s three-point percentage falling to 15% in the last five games.
After keeping the game close in the first half, the Aces ran away with it in the third quarter.
“We ran out of gas and Vegas was able to put their foot on the gas,” Marsh said after the game.
Center Elizabeth Williams sat the second half after being evaluated for calf pain, leaving the Sky with eight available players.
