‘Aggressive’ XL bully seized by armed police after biting woman’s hand

A woman was taken to hospital after a suspected XL bully bit her hand, with armed police seizing the canine.

The victim, in her 20s, was attacked by the dog on Havelock Street in Blackpool yesterday evening.

Five police vehicles, armed officers and a dog unit descended onto the residential street near the coast.

Onlookers told the Blackpool Gazette the incident involved an ‘aggressive’ dog biting a woman.

Photographs from the scene showed a large police presence outside Gemini Blinds shop.

A man in his 40s was arrested at a property.

Police said in a statement to Metro.co.uk: ‘We were called at shortly after 5.30pm yesterday (April 15) to a report that a woman had been bitten by a dog on Havelock Street in Blackpool.

‘Officers, including armed officers, attended and a man in his 40s was arrested at a property on suspicion of having a dog dangerously out of control. He remains in custody.

‘A dog, suspected to be an XL Bully type, was seized from the address.

‘The woman, in her 20s, was taken to hospital for treatment to a dog bite injury to her hand.’
