Counter terrorism detectives are now leading the probe into the death of Ann Widdecombe after new evidence emerged.
The ex-Tory minister, 78, was found dead on the floor of her remote Dartmoor bungalow on Thursday after concern was raised when she failed to join a scheduled interview on a show she was a regular on.
A 28-year-old man was arrested at a terraced house in Rotherham, South Yorkshire, on Saturday evening and taken into custody.
Police have now revealed the investigation into Miss Widdecombe’s death is now being led by counter terrorism detectives, marking a U-turn after it was previously thought there was no suggestion her death was political or linked to terrorism.
