Anti-migrant protesters laugh as firefighters rush to Britannia hotel in Canary Wharf

Anti-migrant protesters chanted ‘you just burnt to toast’ as firefighters rushed hosepipes into a migrant hotel in east London.
The Britannia Hotel in Canary Wharf was searched for signs of fire this afternoon, London Fire Brigade confirmed.
Firefighters were seen carrying hoses into the building as the fire alarm was heard ringing.
Anti-migrant protesters have regularly gathered outside the five-star property since it was revealed to be housing asylum seekers this summer.
A clip of the hotel on Sunday afternoon showed demonstrators chanting ‘you just burnt to toast’ as emergency workers rushed into the hotel.
Union Jacks and St George’s flags attached to a fence outside the hotel have since been removed, the Express reported.
No sign of fire was found within the building, LFB confirmed.
A spokesperson for London Fire Brigade said: ‘Firefighters responded to reports of a possible fire at a hotel on Marsh Wall, Tower Hamlets.
‘Crews carried out a systematic search of the building for signs of fire, and none were discovered.
‘The Brigade was first called about the incident at 4.50pm and crews from Millwall, Poplar, Whitechapel and surrounding fire stations have been sent to the scene.’
