Armed, fleeing suspect on foot in Pacoima fatally shot by LAPD

An allegedly armed man was fatally shot by Los Angeles police in Pacoima on Tuesday night, June 12, with a suspect still at large, authorities said.

Officers were conducting a traffic stop on a black BMW sedan near Carl Street and Carl Place around 8:50 p.m., according to the LAPD, near Whiteman Airport and several blocks from the Hansen Dam.

The front passenger, a 20-year-old man, got out of the BMW and led officers on a chase through a nearby housing complex, police said. At some point, police opened fire on Alexander Larios, who was fatally struck, authorities said.

His handgun was found at the scene, police said.

The driver of the BMW drove away and was being sought.
