A 22-year-old man shot Tuesday has died after the Austin neighborhood attack.
The man was in the 700 block of North Lavergne Avenue when someone shot him in the back about 12:45 a.m., police said.
The unidentified man, who was uncooperative in providing details to responding officers, was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in fair condition but he died there at 11:52 p.m. Tuesday, according to police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.
An autopsy Wednesday determined he died of a gunshot wound to the back and his death was ruled a homicide, according to the medical examiner’s office.
Area 4 detectives are investigating.
