Armed suspect found dead after 17-hour Tarzana standoff

An armed suspect who was in a standoff with Los Angeles Police Department officers for nearly 17 hours in Tarzana was found dead early Friday morning.

Police were called to the 5700 block of Etiwanda Avenue around 10:30 a.m. Thursday regarding a domestic violence call, the LAPD said.

An LAPD SWAT team was called to the scene to assist with negotiating a surrender.

The suspect was found dead at 3 a.m. Friday inside the residence, LAPD Officer Rosario Cervantes told City News Service.

There were no further details.
