Bears coach Ben Johnson stays coy about return of CBs Jaylon Johnson, Kyler Gordon

If the Bears are going to bring cornerbacks Jaylon Johnson and Kyler Gordon back from injured reserve for Friday’s game against the Eagles, they need to make a roster move Thursday.

Coach Ben Johnson doesn’t sound interested in tipping his hand until then.

“We’ll know soon enough,” he said.

Both were full participants Wednesday. Tyrique Stevenson, who has a nagging hip injury, did not practice.

Cornerback C.J. Gardner-Johnson might have tipped the Bears’ hand when he called Johnson one of the league’s best cornerbacks and said “he’ll probably get a chance to actually show that, being active this week against a great receiving corps.”

Johnson tore the adductor muscle off his pelvic bone while working out at UNLV in July. He hurt a different part of his groin in Week 2 and had surgery.

Gordon has played in only two games year. He hurt his hamstring days before the Bears season opener and then was put on IR with a calf injury after the Saints game.

Notes

• Johnson wouldn’t say whether a healthy Theo Benedet will get his starting left tackle job back.

Benedet {quad) practiced in full Wednesday. Second-round pick Ozzy Trapilo “did a great job” in his first NFL start Sunday and was a “big reason why we were able to win that game,” Johnson said.

• The Bears’ three starting linebackers remained sidelined: T.J. Edwards (hand/hamstring), Ruben Hyppolite II (shoulder) and Noah Sewell (elbow).

• Defensive tackle Gervon Dexter (hand) was added to the injury report and was limited. Guard Luke Newman (foot) and defensive end Dominique Robinson (concussion) remain out.

• Eagles receiver DeVonta Smith (illness/shoulder/chest) didn’t practice.
