Bears LB Tremaine Edmunds activated for Packers game

As expected, the Bears are bringing back Tremaine Edmunds for their rivalry game against the Packers on Saturday night. The middle linebacker was activated from injured reserve.

Bears running back D’Andre Swift will play, too, after being ruled questionable with a groin injury.

Packers running back Josh Jacobs and wide receiver Christian Watson are active, too. Right tackle Zach Tom is out.

The Bears previously ruled out wide receivers Rome Odunze and Luther Burden II with injuries. They promoted receiver Maurice Alexander from the practice squad.

Other Bears inactives include third-string quarterback Case Keenum, defensive tackle Jonathan Ford and linebacker Ruben Hyppolite.

Edmunds missed four games, the minimum allowed on injured reserve, with a groin injury that he suffered last week.

The typically coy Ben Johnson spoke openly this week about Edmunds’ possible return, a sign he was due to be activated. It’s unclear whether Edmunds will be on a limited snap count. His replacement, D’Marco Jackson, was named NFC Defensive Player of the Week after recording a sack and an interception against the Browns.

Edmunds had put together one of the best seasons of his career before the injury. Only five NFL players have intercepted more passes than Edmunds’ four.

The Bears won 22-16 after recovering an onside kick and scoring two touchdowns.
Running back D’Andre Swift will play, too.
In this week’s “Polling Place,” we also wanted to know how long it has been since your last visit to Soldier Field for a Bears game.
