Here’s what happened at Halas Hall on Thursday:
Wright back
After missing Wednesday’s practice with a knee injury, Bears all-pro right tackle Darnell Wright returned — and was limited — Thursday. Wright wore sleeves over both legs but no hard brace on either knee.
Guard Joe Thuney got a veteran rest day.. Running back Kyle Monangai (hamstring), cornerback Malik Muhammad (ankle), defensive lineman Dayo Odeyingbo (shoulder), running back D’Andre Swift (ankle/knee), tackle Ozzy Trapilo (knee) and safety Xavier Woods (groin) all remain limited.
Defensive tackle Neville Gallimore, who was sick Wednesday, returned and practiced in full.
QB watch
Vikings quarterback Kyler Murray, who was concussed Sunday, was limited in practice for the second-straight day. Carson Wentz would start if he can’t play.
Standout tackle Brian O’Neill sat out with a knee injury one day after being limited.
Kicks need work
Kicker Cairo Santos taught himself a knuckleball this offseason, a different version of the “dirty ball” squib kickoff he used last year in that it sunk to the ground faster. Sunday, it was too fast. Twice, his kickoff landed short of the 20-yard line. Because it didn’t reach the landing zone, the Panthers got the ball at the 40.
The league’s kickoff rule shift means the ideal kick is one that hits the landing zone and kicks into the end zone, giving the return team the ball at the 20.
“It’s a close miss we’ve just got to correct,” he said.
