Aaron Rodgers’ long-awaited return to Soldier Field probably won’t happen.
Rodgers got hurt Sunday in the Steelers’ 34-12 win over the Bengals, and ESPN reported he has “a slight break” in his non-throwing wrist. While there’s still hope that he’ll return this season, a fracture would make it highly unlikely he’d be available Nov. 23 when the Steelers visit the Bears.
If he’s out, the Bears would face backup quarterback Mason Rudolph instead. Rudolph has played in three games this season and has never faced the Bears.
Rodgers, 41, hasn’t played in Chicago since 2022 and has said he’s “pretty sure” this will be his last season.
He went 25-5 against the Bears as Packers quarterback and famously yelled at the crowd in a 2021 game at Soldier Field, “All my [bleeping] life, I own you. I own you. I still own you.”
Rodgers orchestrated a trade from the Packers to the Jets in 2023 and missed nearly all of his first season with them because of a torn Achilles tendon. He struggled last season, and the Jets announced in February they were cutting him.
As he looked at destinations in free agency, he liked the Steelers in part because they had a road game against the Bears this season.
“I love Chicago, though — way more than they love me,” he said in May. “It’s been a great relationship — all one way.”

The path to their seventh win in 10 games wasn’t a straight line Sunday. It was a diagonal one that started when Devin Duvernay caught the ball at the Bears’ 4 with a one-point deficit and 50 seconds to play.
