GREEN BAY, Wis. — As deflating as all the Packers’ long pass plays were in the Bears’ 28-21 loss, the most crushing defensive lapse for the Bears was with 5:20 left and the game tied at 21. Packers running back Josh Jacobs got a pitch to the right on third-and-two at the Bears’ 28-yard line, and four defenders converged but failed to tackle him.
Defensive end Montez Sweat got a hand on him for what would’ve been a two-yard loss, and defensive tackle Gervon Dexter, linebacker D’Marco Jackson and cornerback Jaylon Johnson were waiting behind him. None made the play, and Jacobs ran for a 21-yard gain to give the Packers first-and-goal on their way to the go-ahead touchdown.
“We all got there, all made good reads and got bumped off and didn’t finish the play,” Johnson said. “That’s a play that we’ve all got to make. … I at least have got to finish the play and get off the field.”
Jacobs scored on a two-yard touchdown run on third-and-goal a few plays later to put the Packers ahead 28-21. He finished with 86 yards and a touchdown on 20 carries.
Parsons was relatively quiet Sunday, posting two quarterback hits.
