Police officers are investigating a potential homicide after a body was found near a Greenwood Village high school early Saturday morning.
Officers responded to reports of a dead body near East Union Avenue and South Yosemite Street — adjacent to Cherry Creek High School — at 5:07 a.m. Saturday, according to a news release from the Greenwood Village Police Department.
While near a high school, the incident does not appear to be school-related, police stated in the release.
The initial investigation suggests this was a homicide, according to Saturday’s release.

No further information about the investigation was available. The victim’s identity and official cause of death will be released by the Arapahoe County Coroner’s Office.
East Union Avenue was closed temporarily for the investigation.
