Bomb disposal squad rush to Tory MP’s office after ‘suspicious package’ found as cops cordon off area

A BOMB disposal squad has rushed to a Tory MP’s office after a “suspicious package” was found.

Sussex Police and West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service were also scrambled outside Jeremy Quinn’s office in Horsham with photos showing a bomb disposal vehicle and a fire engine on the road.

Emergency services were seen surrounding the Horsham Conservative Association in West Sussex at around 2.40pm this afternoon.

Cops then put up a cordon as an urgent investigation was carried out at Gough House, Madeira Avenue.

Sussex Police, West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service and a bomb disposal unit can be spotted at the scene.

Police reportedly arrived first at the scene this afternoon before the bomb squad and fire service arrived at around 5pm. 

West Sussex Fire and Rescue service confirmed they are attending the incident on Madeira Avenue, while homes on the road have been evacuated.

A Sussex Police spokesman told The Sun: “Police received a report of a suspicious package at a premises in Madeira Avenue, Horsham, at about 2.40pm this afternoon.

“Police and the Explosive Ordnance Disposal team are currently at the scene.

“If anyone in the area has concerns, they can speak to an officer at the scene, or call 101.

“Further updates will be provided in due course.”

The Fire and Rescue service were also summoned to the scene
