Boy, 8, dies after being hit by a car in quiet cul-de-sac

An eight-year-old schoolboy has died after being struck by a car in a residential street.

Emergency services were called to the collision in Woodland View, Dilton Marsh, Wiltshire, at 4.30pm yesterday.

Wiltshire Air Ambulance was scrambled alongside other 999 responders, but despite their best efforts, he was pronounced dead at the scene.

His family have been informed and is being supported by a specialist officer.

A Wiltshire Police spokesperson said: ‘Our thoughts are with them at this extremely difficult time.

‘A man in his 30s is being interviewed, as is usual in these circumstances.

‘Any witnesses to the collision or anyone who may have dash cam are asked to contact the serious collision investigation team.’
