Brunch and Thai cuisine are available under one roof at a new Clayton restaurant

After moving to the Bay Area about a decade ago from Thailand, Jureerat Bunteesud has opened her own restaurant in Clayton.

The Walnut Creek resident said she’d been looking to open a bistro for years before finding the location of what has become Skylar Bistro, a Thai and brunch restaurant.

The restaurant soft-opened in January and recently held its grand opening.

She decided to offer breakfast items on the menu after noticing few other breakfast options in town — yet was also eager to offer Thai cuisine in the community. So she’s doing both — but beyond a few fusion items, they’re generally not available at the same time, given kitchen constraints. Breakfast and brunch items are available earlier in the day and Thai dishes are generally served at dinnertime, she says.
